This months pet(s) of the month are Murphy and Preston Bishop.
There names were picked via choice between parents and children. Murphy is a Bearded Collie and Preston is a Javanese/Maltese mix. Murphy is 16, she will be 17 in March. Preston is 7. Each dog was 12 weeks old when the joined the family.
After watching many dog shows on tv I fell in love with the Bearded Collie breed. Found a reputable breeder who had a litter that fit our time frame for a puppy to join our family. We drove to Buffalo, NY from Indianapolis to Buffalo to pick Murphy up.
Preston is from Syracuse, Indiana. Went with a friend to get a dog for her daughter and I fell in love with Preston. So he came home with me.
Murphy as a puppy loved to get the toilet paper and run around pulling toilet paper all over the house. Luckily she has outgrown that habit.
Preston is always ready to play and he loves rather large red ball that has rope running through the ball. He takes the rope and flips the ball around his body and over his head while running all throughout the house.
Murphy loves her individual walks and tennis ball time. She loves to have her ears rubbed during her cuddle breaks.Preston loves to go with the other dogs in playtime. He loves belly rubs during his cuddles.
Murphy has been coming to the Animal Den for approx 12 years. Maybe longer! Preston has been coming for 7 years.
Murphy loves a tennis ball and Preston’s favorites are his red big ball and his octopus. Murphy and Preston love soft, easy to chew treats. Murphy and Preston both love to ride in the car. Love to feel the fresh air blowing their hair in the wind.
Neither dog performs any tricks, their owners wish they did.
One unusual thing about the dogs is both hate the UPS and FEDEX trucks, we have the invisible fence so they run around the front yard when the trucks are on our street. Luckily the dogs allow the drivers to deliver packages to our front door, as long as treats are given to them by the drivers.
Meet Opie and Tanner some of our most valued family members.
They have been members of The Animal Den since 2011. They have used our boarding services close to 60 times.
Opie the pug is true to his breed and absolutely hates Nail trims, It takes 3 people to trim his nails.
Tanner the Australian Shepherd was 11 this year, The story he likes to tell is the night he went out to potty heard some noises and took off into the field and woods. Before he knew it he was surrounded and attacked by Coyotes. Dad ran out and scared them away. Tanner was pretty roughed up but survived his adventure. Opie says ya, ya, ya, I’ve heard that story a thousand times.
Their, Cheryl & Howard, parents travel quite often due to their the daughters and grandkids leaving on both the east coast and west coast.
Cheryl and Howard are some of the sweetest people you would ever meet. We will sure miss them as they make Florida their new Home. And Opie and Tanner will definitely be missed around The Animal Den.
